Woogaroo Creek State School

Woogaroo Creek State School, a Primary school located in Augustine Heights Queensland, sets students up to REACH new heights as conscious global citizens. Catering for P-6, the school wanted the classroom furniture to be age-appropriate and flexible. They also wanted to incorporate innovative and collaborative spaces that foster creativity, communication and teamwork. The school therefore chose a mix of high and low seating, stackable chairs and soft furnishings, including a beanbag ‘quiet space’ in each classroom to encourage student wellbeing and emotional regulation. For the Resource Centre the school wanted a light, fresh space where students would want to gather for learning and breakout time. The school choose all-white custom curved shelving with complimenting blue highlights to achieve this look. Colour played a large part in the furniture selection. Colours were derived from the school logo and building elements. Colour was also used as a means of wayfinding within the school and classroom. Junior and senior schools were defined by separate colours that were reflected in both architecture and furniture such as student chairs, student tables and storage trays. BFX worked closely with the school to provide tailored furniture solutions that matched the clear vision the school had for modern flexible spaces.
